Water expands as it freezes. In an exposed pipe that can split fittings and flood a building when it thaws.
Self-limiting cable
DEVIpipeheat changes its output along its length as the temperature around it changes, putting more heat where the pipe is colder. It can be cut to length on site.
Installation basics
- Fix the cable along the underside of the pipe with aluminium tape
- Cover pipe and cable with weatherproof insulation
- Control with a thermostat so it runs only near freezing
Common locations include roof spaces, external walls, tank outlets, water meters and fire service lines.
